The revolutionary, patent-pending Drivelock design, uses a Hodge Defense-designed extrusion with three independent wedges that interface with the angular grooves in a proprietary barrel nut. This system clamps the rail onto the steel barrel nut with extreme force and precision, while also driving the handguard rearward towards the upper receiver. The slightly larger ID of that extrusion gives more real estate around the gas block, even more rigidity than the M76, and takes longer to heat.
SOLGW is not discontinuing the M76. That will remain in full production. They are just adding the M89 to the lineup.

Been running one of these on my 14.5″ as I wanted something nice and stiff to mitigate zero issues with my MFAL. I now also have one on a 16″ gun, and would definitely consider if for other rifles. The only downside I have found, is the coating is quite slick compared to the M76 that was made by Zev. Overall, the M89 seems to be a better rail.
