Hodge Defense Systems bolt carrier groups are no frills, black nitrided bolt carrier groups with a 9310 bolt. When manufactured and heat treated correctly, 9310 is slightly stronger than Carpenter 158 bolts.
HDSI BCGs feature an all chrome gas key, are Magnetic Particle Inspected (MPI), properly staked, individually inspected for quality assurance and individually test fired.

This shipped and was at my door quickly. Everything measures within spec and was machined well. Still collecting parts for a Hodge build but have no doubt this will function fine when I use it.

I bought one of these in August of ’23. Received it quickly – BTO is super! I looked it over, measured everything, and it was all well in spec of the TDP. After closely examining and comparing it to other BCG’s I have determined the carrier and bolt and cam pin to be identical to the Aero Precision PRO series parts. Was this disappointing to me? Nope, the measurements and finish quality are SUPER. The gas key, extractor, and firing pin have different finishes but are what I’d prefer over nitriding. If I am correct, I feel the change from earlier manufacturers of Hodge BCG’s was a good move as I had read of things that some customers did not like with them. The example I received measures well within TDP callouts and has improved metallurgy and modern finishes. I am impressed.

This is the only BCG I run in my rifles now. Several rifles have 2500+ rounds through them without a single issue. They also function flawlessly even if they are significantly dirty. Can’t recommend them enough!
