The Modlite heads are undergoing an in-line upgrade. The new head is slimmer but still provides the same output and runtime as the original heads. Performance is NOT affected. This light will ship with the new head.

Modlite PLHv2 Light Head

This light head is a direct replacement for the Surefire M600DF head. It can be used with the Modlite 18650 body or the smaller Modlite 18350 body.

While lumen output with this light is similar to the Surefire M600DF, the throw is much better suited to allow PID (Positive ID) at greater distances at more than three times the amount throw than the M600DF. This light is a large step forward from the PLHv1 light. Lumen output is about the same but throw is greatly improved. It is the best balance of flood and throw available.

  • Features

    • Cool White 5700K emitter tint
    • Made and assembled in the USA
    • Drivers are fully potted and tested to withstand select fire SCAR 17 recoil.
    • Lifetime guarantee
    • Approximately 1350 out the front lumens and candela is approximately 54,000. It is an excellent overall light head good for indoor or outdoor use.
    • 6061 Series Alum bezel with Mil-Spec Hard Anodizing.
    • Ultra clear BOROFLOAT® lens allows 98-99% light transmittance.

Lithium CR123 cells are not supported and if used will cause the cells to heat up and possibly explode or catch fire. We recommend the KeepPower 18650/18350 high drain cells which can be found here. Runtime is about 80 minutes with 18650 and about 40 minutes with the smaller 18350 cells.

Do not stack 18350 cells into an 18650 body this can cause the light to malfunction. Only use 18650 cells in 18650 bodies and 18350 cells in 18350 bodies.

One of the best weaponlight heads out there. Super bright (better then Surefire by alot!). Superb and wellbuilt.

  2. Chee (verified owner)

Amazing throw, almost okw like with almost double the spill. Great general go to rifle light

  3. mac.mosher (verified owner)

Does it all well. Best overall weapon light on the market.

  4. Jacob Brandon (verified owner)

Got the new head! Awesome light that is one probably the best all around lights that you can get.

  5. brian.windsor91 (verified owner)

Best weapon light on the market! PLHv2 is the best of the OKW and PLHv1.
Cant wait to get my next modlite set up going!

  6. istvan.zolcsak (verified owner)

Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? 100% !

Both the PLHv2 and OKW are amazing lights. I use both heads for handheld applications and as weapon mounted lights and couldn’t be happier.

Much better than the M600DF head. Slightly lower lumen output, but a much more usable hotspot, and clearly defined flood, very usable flood. The uniformity and clearly defined edges of the flood make this head more usable in confined quarters and the blinding hotspot allows you to reach out much further than the M600DF. I genuinely can’t think of a situation where I’d rather have the M600DF over the Modlite.

Best light on the market right now. You are paying for the best, so don’t hesitate!!!

  9. Anthony (verified owner)

This light is a laser beam. I was able to PID targets over 100 yards easy. This is definitely the best option for a weapon light or a carry light. I like the new slimmer design too.

Most people will look at these and think, “300 bucks for a flashlight? GFY!” People that know, know. I was formerly a major fanboy for SureFire products (don’t get me wrong, they’re awesome), but Modlite is the cream of the crop. I have the new OKW head on my MK18 in the 18650 body and loved it so much that I got a PLHv2 in the 18350 body with the Raven Concealment clip for EDC. The fit and finish of these lights is second to none. They feel like such high quality pieces in your hand and perform equally. The flood and throw on the PLHv2 flood is amazing, not to mention the run-time on a single 18350 is awesome! The OKW heads’ throw is extremely impressive considering the lumen rating. It shows how well the reflector, glass, LED module and board were engineered. You can really tell the boys over at Modlite really give a sh!t about making a high quality product. Finally, there’s BigTextOutdoors. What can I say? Every time I order something from BTO, they ship it THE SAME DAY! Even with the Kung-Flu going around and most other businesses taking FOREVER to ship things as a result, BTO still gets my order out the same day! BTO is one of those retailers that will have my business for the foreseeable future.

This is my first serious weapon light. Purchase and I’m really really happy with it. My only other experience is with Streamlight’s ProTac Railmount 1 and various handheld lights in the 500 lumen range. The Modlite is superb all around. After waiting for the batteries to charge up, I was excited to test out the PLHv2 and compare it with my other lights.

  12. MattW (verified owner)

I originally had the SF M600DF. It was a nice warm floody light and I liked it. Reviews of this head (PLHv2 ) intrigued me so I bought a few. This light has flood similar to the M600DF with a bit more cool color and a man size hotspot that seems to go for miles!!!!! There are plenty of good reviews on Youtubeway better than me so I won’t go into details. Even a recent one that was very “The Cloud Defensive REIN” slanted but used the (PLHv2 ) in comparison. It actually made the (PLHv2 ) look good because the (PLHv2 ) was waaaaay smaller and performed just as well. I have 2 of these on 11.5″ BCM weapons. I have a third on a 18350 Handheld Body with a Thyrm SwitchBack 2.0 Large. Im very happy!!

  13. Tyler (verified owner)

Wow. What a light head. I also have the older PLH head that I use on my EDC light. The updated version is better in every way. Great hotspot, great throw, wide beam, easily illuminated everything up close and has plenty of reach for all my needs. Highly recommend.

  14. Matt Dickinson (verified owner)

By far the best light head for a weapon or handheld light. Perfect combination of lumens and candela. I use to be a sure fire fan, but have made the switch to modlite and won’t look back. Don’t hesitate to pull the trigger on these high quality well built lights and heads

  15. D_H (verified owner)

Modlite is at the top of the WML game right now. The PLHv2 is the perfect all around light. Even for people stuck on lumens it boasts 1350 but where it really shines (ba dum, tsst) is the candela. 53k if I recall correctly which blows surefire and Streamlight out of the water. If you have any doubts, don’t. Until surefire steps their game up there’s no reason to get one over a Modlite

  16. David (verified owner)

Can’t begin to describe how great the PLHV2 is, especially compared to the V1 or the surefire M600DF. Used as a hand-held it has enough candela to easily cut through even limo tint as well as through photonic barriers like headlights or flood lights. When used as a rifle light it easily punches out at least 100+ yards. I recommend this to anyone who needs a tough, bright flashlight.

  17. Kevin (verified owner)

Amazing light. Great hotspot and throw. Good mix between the OKW and PLH.

  18. willblackmon10 (verified owner)

Fit and finish is excellent. The flexibility of mounts, bodies, etc. is really great. Batteries seem to hold charge very well.

Should not have waited so long to buy one.

  19. kmpc4000 (verified owner)

So good I came back for seconds. The weapon mounted light body & this head made my rifle night ready . I’m confident it will perform if anything “goes bump in the night”

  20. Devin Shunia (verified owner)

    Slim, lightweight, and powerful!

  21. Skellytor (verified owner)

Powerful, helped my dad with crap vision see a Cactus a hundred yards out at night
