Description

Lights only work well when their lenses are clean.  CLENS provides an easy way to protect lenses during extended shooting sessions.  Just like goggle tear-offs for off-road riding, just remove the dirty CLENS to return your light to its optimal brightness

CLENS (pronounced “cleanse”) is a set of heat-resistant clear polymer circles that are cut to fit on a wide range of flashlight and weapon-light lenses. CLENS protects the lens from carbon and other debris that can build up from the use of lights during firearms training. CLENS can be removed to quickly clean a light, rather than having to apply Vaseline before shooting, replace a lens, or risk abrasion with lens cleaners.

Below is a CLENS size chart, showing the four models of CLENS sheets and the corresponding count and sizes of CLENS on each sheet.

CLENS’ mild adhesive backing has a higher affinity for polymer than glass. This makes it easy to attach and position, without leaving adhesive on clean glass. However, adhesive may stick to a dirty or damaged lens; in this case, touching the sticky side of CLENS to any residual adhesive should remove it from the lens.

CLENS was made in collaboration with Aaron Cowan of Sage Dynamics / Sage Instruments.

* Follow all firearm safety rules at all times. Detach lights from firearms prior to installing, removing, cleaning, or replacing the CLENS.

The Thyrm CLENS lens covers are nearly the perfect protection long-term for your pistol, rifle, and even shotgun-mounted lights where the light’s position is such that there is a chance of unburnt powder and carbon being expelled from the muzzle and coating the light’s front lens. This is almost certain with pistol lights, and often the case with rifles with aggressively forward-mounted lights to minimize the barrel/handguard intrusion on the projected light, with the possible exception of rifles with linear compensators.

And while the CLENS covers aren’t entirely foolproof to apply (Tip: take your time and get it aligned on the FIRST application, otherwise removal and repositioning “smudges” the adhesive to make it less optically transparent as it would otherwise be), they adhere very well once applied. To ensure you’re getting go adhesion to the edges, take a dental pick or a plastic pick and run it around the edges of the lens cover to get best adhesion on the edges. Once that’s done, even when the CLENS gets covered in carbon, it can be easily cleaned with a tiny bit of firearms cleaning solution or rubbing alcohol to keep it clear and protecting the lens for a long time. I’ve run CLENS covers on rifles that put out a good bit of carbon/unburnt powder for upwards of 5000 shots and the cover was still as transparent as the first day after a cleaning. This is definitely the 9/10 solution to lens protection.

Thyrm Clens Protector work well but need to be a tap bigger to fully cover surefire x300 lenses.
